Premium Red Vanilla Extreme Espresso Cup and Saucer Set - 6-Piece White Porcelain Coffee Cups (3 oz) for Home, Cafe & Restaurant Use

Don't let the title of this review fool you—I know next to nothing about dinnerware. However, in my browsing of Amazon for various things for a new apartment, I happened to see this product, thought the modern look was very enticing, and stuck it in my WIsh List for a rainy day. When it dropped in price, I had already picked up a dinnerware set, but decided that it'd be nice to have at least one place setting of something really aesthetically pleasing for some occasional, at-home food photographyUnfortunately, I didn't get a chance to really try this out, so I have no idea what the wear & tear is like on these. Actually, I am writing this review literally less than 10 minutes after getting the package delivered to my door, opening the package, finding that the espresso saucer was shattered, and filing for a return.But based on the look alone, it is very sleek, seems comfortably hefty. From the photos, I honestly almost expected the set to be a matte finish rather than a gloss finish, but again, I know next to nothing about bone china and plates and for all I know a matte bone china plate isn't even possible. But if it were, that'd be my preference. Obviously this was my assumption and so I haven't counted that in my rating.I actually completely disagree with the review that said the dishes were tiny. To me, they are humongous! After seeing that review, I honestly expected these to be relatively petite and perfect for me since I am trying to create a supportive atmosphere in my new place for portion control. But yeah, they are definitely not tiny at all. The bowl, even with its angular design, was much larger than I thought it would be. The plate could probably comfortably fit two 10-ounce steaks and still have a tiny bit of room for sides. Espresso cup is about the size you'd expec, of course. So, yeah... if I could magically alter the dimensions of this product, I'd probably size the two plates down slightly.That's about all I can say for these things. I chose this set over all of the other Red Vanilla because of the smoothness and lack of design. It really is nice and I wish I could have had a chance to use it. Unfortunately it's going back and I'm going to find something else.If you like what you see in the pics, you’re gonna love it when you get it. All 4 pieces are larger than what I see in the pics — which is a good thing. Packaged very well. They are sturdy heavy but not too heavy. The mugs are a really good size. I would not want them any bigger. The bowls are huge. You could use them as a serving dish.These are absolutely stunning. This is one item that is definitely bigger and even better than what I had hoped for — so much so that I ordered another set as soon as I unpacked these to have service for 8. I also ordered the large serving platter.I’ve been looking at these for months now. I couldn’t be happier. And, they are bone China too. I am going to use these for both everyday and special occasions. These are NOT just gonna sit in my cupboard. They are too beautiful not to use everyday. Value is relative, but I like these much more than some of the Mikasa I looked at that were WAY MORE expensive. The manufacturing quality is superb. I had to replace one of the pieces and was able to do so with great ease thanks to Mary Ann S. in Red Vanilla's customer-service department. She was delightful, was fully authorized to solve my problem without having to hem and haw and refer me to her superiors for approval, and she served me expertly. My experience with her further enhanced my already high impression of the Red Vanilla brand. I have two teenage sons who are very rough with china. We have been through many sets over the years, and this is the first set that has lasted. The dishes have an attractive style and modern look, and enable the color and presentation of the food to draw the attention. The style of the bowls is particularly unique and unlike any I have seen before. The combination of strength and durability with the unique and attractive style makes this set a great value. Finally, after a fair amount of abuse, many washing cycles and rough-handling, the set remains free of cracks, chips, breaks, and after washing appears as new as the day they were purchased. Highly recommended to those seeking a unique set of plates/bowls that will last for a long time with reasonable care.It doesn't break easily, which I love. It is bright white, exactly what I wanted. Only negative is you can see the bottom circle thru the top, a minor flaw for me.I have had this for over 3 years now, and i am not gona lie, but the best ones, with kids and always using them, none of them have a chip or a crack.... its such a beautiful set, very light and durable.These plate set exceeded my expectations.
